Olympic Party!

I think that one of the criteria for becoming "middle aged" is being excited about actually watching the Olympics.  Don't get me wrong,  I hopped on the Mary Lou Retton bandwagon and cheered on Michael Phelps many years ago.  

This year is different.  The next summer Olympic games will air the year I turn 41.  Say what?  No wonder it's this year that I actually looked up the schedule online to see what time my favorite sports and opening ceremonies are going to air.  Middle age train is chugging along!  In four years I may buy a collector pin.....

I thought about having a party on Friday - just with the kids.  Get them excited about something so culturally unified.  It's also a time to give them a taste of Patriotism.  

I stumbled across this store with great Olympic themed printable's.  If anything, this picture may get your creative juices flowing.  Maybe you will be inspired to have a little "Go USA" party of your own!

Photo's Turned Party Decoration

I have three kids.  When my oldest was 3 months, I started taking photos to document his "month day".  His birthday was on the 19th, so each month I would snap a photo on the 19th.  Adorable and gave me something to brag about online with family and friends.

Second baby - totally documented.  Birth through thirteen months!  Look at me!

Third Child - Birth through.....?   No clue when I phased out......but she's super cute and she has a lot of pictures with her siblings!

I noticed that this is an awesome trend that new parents have embraced and have recently discovered a few great websites with ways to display them.

As your child reaches that milestone birthday, an annual photo banner would be great for a "Sweet Sixteen" party.

Need a Dora Cake? Epic Fail.....

Have you ever heard of the website cakewrecks.com?  I stumbled across a super funny cake today....

 

Of course I browsed through the Archives to see some other "Cake Wrecks".  I found a hysterical post about when a Dora Cake goes bad.  "Design requested may be different from cake received".  Anyways, have a good laugh!

Not much of a cake decorator?  Kind of person who likes to "kill two birds with one stone"?  Martha Stewart has a unique idea for adding a 3D element to your cake.  Your decoration can also be your candles!  Use cookie cutters to form the shapes, add a wick, voila.  Now I know what to do with the wax I always see at Michaels!

I have been planning parties forever.  Although I have planned events for non-profit companies and Fortune 500 corporations, my passion is planning the party for those who are the life of the party - kids!  This is my seventh solid year planning kids birthdays and events - it is time to take this show on the virtual road!
